Construction has started on a new fitness oriented park, which is expected to be completed by late 2017, in Bellbird Park, at AVID Property Group’s Brentwood Forest community.

Tucker Family Park will add to the existing parks and open spaces at Brentwood Forest, comprising 3 of the 6 green jewels of the community – the sports park, pooch park and fitness park.

The fitness park incorporates a number of state of the art features including an outdoor gym, built with an accompanying app for exercises, a one-of-a-kind 8.2m play tower and the sports park offers a multipurpose sports court. The pooch park will feature a 1600m² dog off leash area, the first of its kind in Bellbird Park.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, only 43 per cent of adults meet the Australian Government’s recommended physical activity guidelines and children aged 5-17 spend nearly one and half times as much time on screen based activities as they spend exercising.*

Parks like Tucker Family Park provide an important resource in encouraging active lifestyles in the community, with the Heart Foundation finding^ that park users are more likely to achieve recommended levels of physical activity than non-users.

The study also found that the presence of supportive infrastructure within parks such as footpaths, wooded areas, constructed and natural trails, and sports facilities or equipment has been associated with park use and physical activity and walking within parks.

“We have already delivered two of our green jewels, our adventure park at Rotary Park and our Outlook Park; and we’re in the process of building a $1m linear pathway through bushland to create our forest park.

“These green jewels give people a place to come together, meet their neighbours and get active,”
