National Developer Delivering Sustainable Legacy

July 7, 2022 | IN Media Release and News | BY AVID | 3 min read

As capital growth benefits all homeowners, there is one southeast Queensland pocket which is exceeding the COVID-indued property gains thanks to the value of community by five-fold.

Six leaves is the new gold standard as developers look to create more environmentally sustainable
communities within Southeast Queensland.

As the State’s population continues to surge the need for more homes grows with it, placing pressure
on greenfield developments and the impact accommodating this growth has on the environment.

AVID Property Group (AVID) was an early adopter of independently reviewed EnviroDevelopment
certification across its portfolio, continuing this accreditation with its new Northern Gold Coast housing
development.

AVID’s General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said the developer is prioritising sustainable
measures to align with exponential population growth and their sustainable savvy customers.

“With the anticipated population growth over the coming years there is both great responsibility and
opportunity for our business’ ecological footprint,” Mr Harper said.

“AVID recognises the need to move away from traditional practices and typical building materials to
something more sustainable, whether it be power, water or materials, and has seamlessly adopted
EnviroDevelopment as a core element of our business.

“We’re committed to creating communities which are truly sustainable and liveable, designed to use
resources responsibly and offer a range of benefits to the homeowners such as low energy
consumption and reduced water bills.”

Prior to its official launch, Amara by AVID Property Group in Northern Gold Coast was recognised by
the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) receiving six ‘Leaf’ national EnviroDevelopment
certification – the highest possible level of accreditation.

The first built form community in AVID’s portfolio to achieve this certification, Amara met rigorous
criteria demonstrating outstanding performance across all six elements of assessment including
ecosystems, waste, energy, materials, water, and community.

UDIA National EnviroDevelopment Manager Taylor Hood said EnviroDevelopment was first started to
support and encourage the development industry in delivering sustainable projects by assessing them
against a scientifically based criteria scheme.

“There is a responsibility for developers to create spaces with as minimal impact on the environment
as possible, so it’s great to see industry leaders like AVID realise these practices,” Mr Hood said.

“When received, the accreditation applauds aptitude for excellent planning, environmental
enhancement, and high-quality design across the six elements of assessment.

“UDIA look forward to continuing to support the industry in delivering environmentally sustainable
outcomes, and helping buyers recognise and select more environmentally sustainable communities.”

As the Gold Coast region is renowned for its natural surroundings, AVID’s vision is to create a
community that harnesses this and is exceptionally proud Amara has received such credentials
aligning with its future-focused and customer-centric mantra.

Once complete, Amara will boast 12.9-hectares of green spaces for residents to access. Included in
this is a 10-hectare fauna movement corridor adjacent the Pimpama River which is being rehabilitated
with native vegetation.

Amara comprises 5,700m2 of activated parklands, incorporating recycled hard landscape materials,
and green leafy spaces for shade and picnics.

Every home constructed will include energy efficiency treatments such as solar panels, state of the art
insulation and appliances, as well as an underlying Truecore steel framework.

The private garden designs detail drought tolerant plant species to reduce demand on local water
supply.

Committed to creating communities which inspire its residents to choose a sustainable lifestyle,
AVID’s southeast Queensland communities Harmony, Covella and Brentwood Forest have all
received EnviroDevelopment Certification.
