Greenbank Scout Group Welcomes Community Funding Boost

AVID Property Group and Greenfields Development Company, the developers behind the Covella master-planned community in Greenbank, has announced the Greenbank Scout Group as the lucky recipient of the inaugural Community Sponsorship and Grants Program.
The Sponsorship and Grants Program form part of Covella’s overarching Community Engagement and Events Program and will help fund a new flagpole and barbeque facilities for the local Greenbank Scouts.
Underpinned by the Scouts Australia Movement, the Greenbank Scout Group is recognised as one of Queensland’s largest groups, comprising of 186 adults and youth members, building a community of
self-fulfilled individuals who strive to play a constructive role in society.
Assistant Group Leader of the Greenbank Scout Group Belinda Anderson said it was an honour to become the first recipient of the program for the Logan region.
“The recent partnership with Covella is a great opportunity to shine a light on Scouts Australia creating opportunities for personal growth and building resilient individuals and communities like our very own,” Ms Anderson said.
“The support from Covella through their grants program not only has allowed us to purchase a brand-new barbeque and esky for our fundraising needs, but also fund a flagpole for our recently opened second site down the road,” she said.
“A flagpole is a symbolic connection to Australian scouting used in every meeting for the opening and closing parade, so it’s fantastic our group can now utilise this space.
“As we celebrate 40 years of Greenbank Scouts, we anticipate our group will be viable and self-sustaining for years to come through public donations and local business support like that of Covella’s, and we can’t wait to continue to grow and welcome more scout members.”
AVID has proudly supported numerous programs and businesses across its network of residential communities in Australia, however, this is the first of its kind for the Greenbank community.
AVID General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said the program was specifically designed to help local communities grow and thrive and was thrilled to launch the program within the Greenbank community.
“I’m privileged to launch our first Sponsorship and Grants Program for the Covella community and was certainly impressed by the high caliber of applications submitted for funding consideration,” Mr Harper said.
“In other AVID communities, the program has helped us launch new initiatives, events and purchase equipment, all with the intent of supporting local growth and regional sustainability,” he said.
“We have always been about bringing people together to help develop neighborhoods into thriving communities, and what better way to do that than supporting local groups like the Greenbank Scouts who make a positive change to individuals and help keep our community prospering.”
During the past four years, AVID’s Sponsorships and Grants Program has invested more than $574,835 into local community initiatives and activities across Queensland – helping to create vibrant communities for residents and locals.
